A boxing match typically consists of a set number of three-minute rounds, a total of up to 12 rounds. The fight is controlled by a referee who works with the boxers in the ring to judge and control the conduct of the fighters. There are normally three judges present at the side of the ring to score the bout and assign points to the boxers, based on punches, defense and knockdowns. The boxers have an assigned corner of the ring, where his or her coach may manage them at the beginning of the fight and between rounds.

The bouts are won by boxers normally by points given by judges but bouts can also end in split decisions and draws. A boxer may win the bout before a decision is reached through a knockout which is when a boxer is knocked down during the fight and the referee begins counting and should the referee count to ten, then the knocked-down boxer is ruled out as knocked out. A boxer can also win a bout by a technical knockout which is when a boxer is ruled by the referee as unable to safely continue to fight, based upon injuries or being judged unable to effectively defend themselves. When a boxer is knocked down, the other boxer must immediately stop fighting and move to the nearest neutral corner of the ring until the referee has either ruled a knockout or called for the fight to continue.

When in the ring boxers are prohibited from hitting below the belt, holding, tripping, pushing, biting, spitting or wrestling their opponent. They are also prohibited from kicking, head-butting, or hitting with any part of the arm other than the knuckles. If a boxer violates these rules then they may be ruled as fouls by the referee, who may issue warnings, deduct points, or disqualify an offending boxer which may cause an automatic loss depending on the seriousness of the foul committed.

A mirror is essential boxing equipment, so you can do shadowboxing. You should get a jump rope so you can skip rope as part of your training. This type of boxing equipment allows you to develop agility. A workout suit is necessary boxing equipment when you go jogging, especially since many boxers go jogging in the early hours of the morning when it is quite chilly. Choose one whose top has a hood so you can keep your head warm too. Then you have to complement such boxing equipment with thick cotton socks and rubber shoes that are pretty heavy duty. If you can get cross-training shoes, those are the best kind because they tend to absorb a lot of the punishment from jogging on hard concrete roads.

A well-calibrated weighing scale is a very important piece of boxing equipment because boxers fight based on what weight category they belong to. You should also have a record book or diary where you can jot down what your weight is for that day, at what time, what you had to eat, and how you trained. This gives you a clear idea of where you are at your training, especially if you are training to become a professional boxer.

When sparring, it is very important to have protective gear as your protective boxing equipment because you don’t want to get injured prior to a big fight – you just want to stay in shape for the fight. A groin-guard (like a sport cup) is very necessary boxing equipment for male boxers (but naturally not for female boxers), along with a head-guard and mouth guard. Among these three, the mouth guard and head-guard are the most important boxing equipment. The mouth guard prevents your teeth from getting accidentally knocked out by a blow to the head, and a head-guard prevents your head from being knocked about too much during the sparring session.

Naturally, no boxer would be caught without any gloves. But gloves as boxing equipment don’t all fall into one generic category. There are speed bag gloves, heavy bag gloves, and sparring gloves that all boxers have to use at some point. You also need hand wraps to wrap your wrists and knuckles with prior to putting your hands in the gloves, as another type of precautionary boxing equipment. But of course the most essential boxing equipment is your own willpower, the ability to take punches and return the same to your opponent, and willingness to devote yourself to training. Without these three, all the boxing equipment in the world cannot make you into a better boxer.

There is no limit of choice as far as posters are concerned. These days people are buying posters of cars, bikes, movie actors, music heroes, cartoon characters, wildlife, vintage art, children etc. These are very popular decorative pieces and great gift ideas also. Now, suppose one of your friend is very fond of boxing sports. What do you think can be the best gift for him? If you give him some rare boxing posters then believe me he would become very happy. You can find these posters either in general shops or you can buy them from online poster shops.

In fact, no sports can compare boxing as far as requirement of strength and stamina is concerned. The players know the rules and they fight. It is very exciting and so the sports is popular among youngsters and children. This is due to its popularity only, boxing posters are very famous these days. Take a small visit of any gym or a room of a young sports lover, you can find large size posters of boxing superstars along with their fight statistics and medal. Some people believe that these fights are fake fights and every move is scripted. But it is not so. Players fight according to particular gaming rules and so the game is highly exciting.

When it comes to sporting events, the coach is the person behind the scenes calling the shots and making sure everything is done to win. Every sport has one but no sport’s coach is more misunderstood than that of boxing. Everyone just thinks they stand in the corner and just watch what’s going on. The truth is they are the one responsible for teaching the correct techniques, refining the boxer’s skills and being ready when the bell rings.

As a boxing coach, it’s up to you to properly train your athlete into competition and into the winner’s circle. A well training boxer is physically and mentally fit and strong. He must posses all of the necessary skills needed to dominate his opponent and the tools necessary to perform at the top of his game.

OK, hate is a strong word – but it’s clear that boxing is currently is currently low on people’s list of favorite sports. Some people will tell you that boxing is too violent, has too much corruption, and is too primitive to survive. I say that none of these explain boxing’s current state. Don’t let the recent Oscar De La Hoya-Floyd Mayweather, Jr. super fight fool you, the health of boxing still requires dire attention.

To regain the “love of boxing,” the Olympics need to be promoted more heavily by the networks carrying them, in order to cultivate American boxing stars. At the professional level, the networks need to carry more boxing cards in order to compete with the cable networks, including PPV. For one, we know that HBO and Showtime can’t beat the pricing of ABC, CBS or NBC – hence the networks competitive advantage. If “free” television were to hire programmers who know boxing, slowly boost ratings among the die-hard fan niche, which will then lead to larger shows – cable television networks would be forced to re-think their model which often showcases single fighters at the expense of many fighters and exploits die-hard fans with a glut of pay-per-view cards to line their coffers.

If you want to start boxing you will need to find a club or gym that has the necessary equipment (in addition to what you purchase on www.cheapboxing.com) to help you with your conditioning and training. You will need a jump rope, medicine ball, punching bag, and exercise mats. Conditioning will also include learning breathing techniques, abdominal, leg, and arm exercises, and eventually working with a partner.

Items you will need to purchase will include lightweight shoes, boxing trunks, a mouthpiece, and a cup if you are male. Some clubs may have boxing gloves available for you to use. Eventually you will want to purchase your own pair. It should be noted that wrapping your hands before putting on boxing gloves is a necessity. This will help to protect the small bones in your hands from injury. There are several methods of wrapping. It is important to not twist the wrapping and to keep it loose enough to not cut off your circulation. The support given to the wrist is also important. When you are working with a partner some gyms may require you to wear leather helmets to protect the sides of your head and your ears.

Boxing is one of most popular sports today in North America and continues to grow in popularity. Most countries of the world are familiar with boxing, with many of these countries having a multitude of boxing organizations within its borders.

The sport of boxing has been around for many more years than most people realize it has. Ancient historians have traced the beginnings of boxing back to 4000 BC during times when the empires of Rome and Greece were engaged in combat. Historians have found records that indicate that boxing, surely known by another name in ancient times, was fought with much more brutality than it is today.

It is interesting to note that professional boxing has evolved into one of the very few sports that has definitely been instrumental in the development of what is now known as sports entertainment. And in some cases, the boxing news reports and media hype is partly entertainment in and of itself as well.

“I imagine my story is very similar to many other people who have found themselves involved in the world of boxing and martial arts. I started as a lot of young men do, doing a normal 9-5 office job, eating rubbish and drinking far too much lager! This of course did very little for my body or my anything else for that matter so decided it was time to join a gym.

A couple of friends of mine were really into bodybuilding, so much so that one had what could only be described as a shrine to Arnie in his bedroom. I was quite impressed by the progress they had made so thought I’d join them a couple of times a week. Under their supervision I started to reverse the effects of my unbelievable unhealthy lifestyle. Ten years later I was still doing the same training, maintaining a decent physique, spending a small fortune on supplements but found myself increasingly disillusioned at why exactly I was still putting so much time and effort into weight lifting. I had no interest in steroids and as such was never likely to compete.

By chance and at about the same time I started working for a new company. There were a couple of guys working for this company; one was a traditional power lifter. Nice guy, very strong and nicknamed Mr Incredible. The other a smaller guy, lawyer of all things was really into “”BJJ”" and “”MMA”". Two phrases that meant very little to me at the time. We trained a few times and eventually he talked me into doing a bit of sparring with him one lunchtime. Sure I’d messed about on the punch bag in the gym and even used some focus pads a couple of times with a friend but to actually try and hit another human being was a completely new concept to me.

We arrived at the gym with a huge bag of boxing equipment, out of which he pulled two pairs of 12oz gloves and 2 headgears. At this point I was really questioning what I’d gotten myself into but pride being what it is I wasn’t about to back out. I asked for the thickest most protective headgear he had and we got on with it! My first reaction was of course to swing like a madman, it was a combination of every brawl I’d had since my teens rolled into one. Out of what seemed like a thousand punches I caught him with one (but it was a good one!).

He then spent the next hour dancing around me, jabbing and throwing combos at me whilst I tried to figure out which punch was coming next. I learnt more in that hour than I had in ten years lifting weights. I had no goals lifting weights, I was just plodding along unable to improve myself but fighting was a different ball game completely. Bizarrely I enjoyed the experience, I’d been hit a lot and my jaw ached for days but I couldn’t wait to go again. Fighters understand this; too many people look at fighters with no real understanding of the skill and commitment it takes to actually be good at any combat sport.

I was hooked.”
